Students of the High School wing celebrated the Children’s Day with their kin of the Nursery & LP Division. Student Police Cadets (SPC) visited the LP & Nursery Division and interacted with the tiny kids, distributed sweets and balloons. The younger ones dressed up as little ‘Chacha Nehru’ and donning crimson rose flowers were happy to find their elder ones joining them to celebrate the Children’s Day.
The seniors prompted the juniors to sing and dance. Drawing and painting competitions too were conducted. The students of the UP and HS divisions took a march within the campus with placards and slogans. Short films were screened to highlight the disastrous effects of drugs and narcotics. It was surprising to find that the young boys and girls are aware that this day (14 November) is the birth day of Jawaharlal Nehru, our former Prime Minister.
It was nice to find that the students also knew that our law makers decided to celebrate Nehru’s birthday as Children’s Day as a tribute to the great visionary who always found happiness in the company of children. Many students are aware that this decision was taken after Nehru’s death in 1964 and till then everyone observed November 20 as the Children’s Day.
