Volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS) organised a ‘Diabetes Walk’ on 14th November, the World Diabetes Day to sensitise the community and to contribute to the global fight against diabetes. This walk was to create awareness on the prevention of diabetes. The community is urged to learn more about the warning signs of diabetes and to find out the risk of Type 2 Diabetes. The lack of knowledge about type 2 Diabetes is a major concern which is responsible for 90% of all diabetes. Left untreated or unmanaged, diabetes can lead to life-changing complications including blindness, kidney failure, heart attack and stroke. Diabetes was responsible for 4 million deaths in 2017
The volunteers displayed placards displaying slogans and messages on the Diabetes. They distributed leaflets on prevention and management of diabetes to the onlookers and general public. An awareness seminar was also conducted in the school to the benefit of students and staff members.
