Talented youth is always an asset to any school. Besides bringing laurels to their alma mater, they motivate others also to come to limelight. In the recent years, there is an unprecedented rise in the number of students contesting at different youth festivals and competitions.

 

Thayambaka‘ performer, Ms. Meera Krishna (Std. VIII D) debuted at the age of five. She belongs to the fifth generation of ‘Chenda’ maestros. Her father Dr. Kandalloor Unnikrishnan, a noted ‘Chenda’ performer, is her teacher and mentor. Along with her father and renowned film star Sri. Jagannadha Varma, Meera had the chance to perform at the ‘Chenda Melam’. Meera bagged accolades in the Sub-District, District and State Schools Youth Festivals. Meera won 1st A Grade at the State Schools Youth Festival.

Mr. Akhilesh, Mr.Muhammed Riswan and Ms. Bhagyalekshmi won prizes in the competitions conducted for general public by ‘Ente Radio 92.1 FM’ & ‘Kerala Rural Development Agency’. ‘ If Gandhi born again’ was the theme of the essay competition open for all above the age of sixteen and Akhiles’s write made him the topper. Muhammed Riswan, the promising artiste in both drawing and painting, bagged the top notch in the painting competition open to both students and public. Bhagyalekshmi, the budding poetess impressed her judges with her lines in the poetry competition. The competitions were held as part of the grand finale of celebrations in commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.


 

 

 

 

 

 

Besides being one of the best NCC cadets of the school, Mr. Dheeraj Shaiju is an ace artist in performing arts. In the past years, he used to secure either 1st  A Grade or A grade in the Schools Youth Festivals at different levels. on 28 January 2020, he had the rare privilege to perform at the Republic Day National Cadet Corps (NCC) rally held at the Cariappa Parade Ground in New Delhi as part of the Kerala NCC contingent. At the event, honourable Prime Minister of India inspected the Guard of Honour and reviewed the ‘march past’ by all NCC contingents arrived from different states of India. The NCC cadets performed their talents in adventure sports, music and performing arts before the Prime Minister. Dheeraj Shaiju presented ‘Kathakali’ at this prestigious event. Back from New Delhi, Dheeraj and the NCC contingent met His Excellency Arif Muhammed Khan, the Governor of Kerala. Mr. S Sreekumar, our High School Teacher & NCC Officer is his prime motivator.

The school team comprising Mr. Adithyan, Mr. Athul A, Mr Sreenath R, Mr Sijin S, Ms. Nandana Satheesh, Mr. Adithyan K and Mr. Akash S topped the District Schools Youth Festival in ‘Nadan pattu’ and won A Grade in the State Schools Youth Festival held at Kanjangad.

Ms. Aiswarya S Ajith (+1 HSS) excelled in ‘Kuchipudi’ in the recently schools youth festivals. She also won accolades at the recently held ‘Sargavedi’ festival held under the auspices of ‘Mathrubhumi’ and ‘Vivekananda’ High School.

Mr. Akhilesh (+2 HSS) won prize in Hindi Recitation competition and Mr Sreehari (Std. IX C) topped in ‘Maddalam’ (Percussion stream’) at the recently held Schools Youth Festivals. Mr. Saravan S (+2 HSS) is known for his oratory skills and won prizes in Malayalam Elocution Competitions in the recently held Schools Youth Festivals.
