About ASAP
National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) set up by the Government of India is a Public-Private Partnership company aimed at catalyzing the skills landscape of India. NSDC operates through partnerships with many agencies to catalyze and evolve the skilling ecosystem.
The State Skill Development Project (SSDP) of Kerala on the lines of NSDC was enacted in 2012 to tap the human resource and potential of the state. To make Kerala a hub of skilled and trained manpower, the SSDP involves the participation of industries and training partners.
The SSDP operates through two streams as ASAP (Additional Skills Acquisition Programme) and ASEP (Additional Skills Enhancement Programme). ASAP, under the General and Higher Education Departments, offers skill courses to students to seek employment. ASAP has spread out to 1052 educational institutions across Kerala and offers 83 courses from 24 sectors.
ASAP, funded by ASB has ambitious plans to extend skill training services to all age groups through Community Skill Parks. Training Service Providers (TSP) selected by ASAP carry out the skill training programs to students. All the courses offered by ASAP are based on industry relevance and considers contemporary career opportunities in the related field.
